Resolution


The number of pixels contained on a display monitor, expressed in terms of the number of pixels on the horizontal axis and the number on the vertical axis is called Resolution. 
  • The sharpness of the image on a display depends on the resolution and the size of the monitor.

Pixel resolution

  • A pixel is actually a unit of the digital Resolution depends upon the size of the pixel. 
  • Images having smaller pixel sizes might consist of more pixels. 
  • The number of pixels correlates to the amount of information within the image. 


Display resolution

  • The display resolution of a digital television, computer monitor or display device is the number of distinct pixels in each dimension that can be displayed. 
  • It is usually quoted as width × height, with the units in pixels: for example, "1024 × 768" means the width is 1024 pixels and the height is 768 pixels. 


Image resolution

  • Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image. 
  • Resolution is sometimes identified by the width and height of the image as well as the total number of pixels in the image.




For example, an image that is 2048 pixels wide and 1536 pixels high (2048X1536) contains (multiply) 3,145,728 pixels (or 3.1 Megapixels).

This means that a 5 megapixel camera is capable of capturing a larger image than a 3 megapixel camera.

Steps for to change image resolution in MsPaint 

1) Open MsPaint. Go to Run option-> Type Pbrush into the run dialogue box-> click on ok button

 


2)Insert image. Click on File menu-> Click on Open option -> choose image-> then click on Open button



3) On Home tab, Click on Resize option

 


4) Choose Pixels radio button
 

5) Now, set Horizontal and vertical size

 

6) Then click on Ok button
